چکیده

Hypertension is one of the most prevalent vascular diseases in the world and posses a major public health problem. Angiotensinconverting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) are accepted as first-line therapy in the treatment of hypertension and heart failure.1 The principle antihypertensive effect is through renin-angiotensin-aldosterone (RAA) mechanism.2 They offer distinct advantages such as preventing or reversing cardiovascular remodeling,3 diabetic complications,4 improving endothelial function5 and also enhancing fibrinolysis.6 The American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology (AHA/ACC) recommend ACEIs as standard therapy in patients who are at high-risk for cardiovascular morbidity and mortality.7 In recent years, there has been a rapid growth in the number of Efficacy and Tolerability of Trandolapril in Mildto-moderate Hypertension: A Double-blind Comparison with Enalapril

Efficacy and tolerability of trandolapril in mild to moderate hypertension--a double blind comparative clinical trial with enalapril in Indian population.

Several large scale clinical trials have demonstrated that angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors offer cardiovascular and renal protection independent of their effects on systolic BP. Trandolapril is a new angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor approved for the treatment of hypertension. The potential advantages of this drug are long duration of action and better tolerability. The objective...

Brazilian multicenter study on efficacy and tolerability of trandolapril in mild-to-moderate essential arterial hypertension. EMBATHE substudy with ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.

OBJECTIVE A double-blind, placebo-controlled multicenter study involving 34 centers from different Brazilian regions was performed to evaluate the antihypertensive efficacy and tolerability of trandolapril, an angiotensin I converting enzyme inhibitor, in the treatment of mild-to-moderate systemic arterial hypertension. METHODS Of 262 patients enrolled in this study, 127 were treated with tra...

A Multicenter, Randomized, Double-Blind Comparison of the Efficacy and Safety of Irbesartan and Enalapril in Adults with Mild to Moderate Essential Hypertension, as Assessed by Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring: The MAPAVEL Study

Background: When blood pressure (BP)-lowering efficacy is assessed by measurements taken in a clinic setting, angiotensin II-receptor antagonists show similar efftcacy to angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and better tolerability. A search of MEDLINE to date, however, reveals no randomized, double-blind studies using ambulatory BP monitoring (ABPM) to compare the BP-lowering efficacy of i...

Efficacy of enalapril in essential hypertension and its comparison with atenolol.

The effect of enalapril was evaluated in 67 patients with essential hypertension, and its therapeutic efficacy was compared with atenolol in a placebo run-in, single-blind, cross-over trial. Enalapril significantly reduced blood pressure in all grades of essential hypertension. As monotherapy it 'normalized' blood pressure in 88%, 50% and 25% of patients with mild, moderate and severe hypertens...
